I'm not a great fan of Sylvester Stallone but one film of his that I do like is "Demolition Man". There is one scene in it where he is doing some needlework (!!! If you haven't seen it - don't ask!!!) and he says something like "So now I'm Betsy f***ing Ross".
Can any of our American friends tell me who Betsy Ross is? Does she have an embroidery TV show or something?

LOL doesn't mean "Lot's of Love...." It means "Laughing Out Loud."

One I use is CUL8R, which means See You Later.

Well not bad so far :) Yep, 'cya' means 'see ya'. 'CUL8R' is an example of another popular family of abbrevs (note the irony :rolleyes: ) like 'w8 up', 'l8r' and 'm8'.
I should mention that some of the aforementioned abbreviations are sort of specific to online gaming, but could be applied to a normal conversation I guess. As a an example and a clue for the others, 'brt' means 'be right there'.
Oh and yes, 'omg' = 'oh my God'
