Tommorrow we will have a New President- Elect

Eight years of Bill "Slick Willie" Clinton is over and we will have a new President. Will it be Gore "the Bore" or Bush II "The Revenge"? I can't say for whom I will be voting for because I don't know yet. Too bad Ross Perot isn't running again. He is always good for a couple of laughs.

I think that I will vote for the president that:
- doesn't stick cigars in foreign places (Clinton)
- doesn't threaten us with "Reading his Lips" and raises taxes anyway (Bush I)
- remembers who he sold weapons to (Reagan)
- doesn't know peanuts about people (Carter)

- doesn't lie (Nixon and everyone else above)

When was the last time any country had a kick-ass leader? Was our's FDR? Too many liberal policies. How 'bout Kennedy? Too many women. (At least he poked Marylin Monroe, Clinton just nailed a chubby intern).
Winston Churchill seems like he was pretty cool when times were tough. He had a world war and an econmy that was worse than the U.S.'s.

As an outsider looking in - I'm in UK - for the first time I can remember neither candidate seems to be presidential material.

Both Bush and Gore seem to lack the strength to make a half-decent president.

For the sake of the future please tell me that I am wrong!!!

Then there's Buchannan, with his big mexican-american wall idea. Although he's so conservitive hed probably regulate every part of our lifes. Then we have Nader who wants to legalize marijuana, like that'll EVER happen. I think I just won't vote

I heard Bush was going to ban the private ownership of guns.

We have to wait for march next year to vote, when we can totally wipe out the bludgers we have in Parliment....the Liberal Party (equivalent to US Republicans but more right wing). Already have champagne on ice and Billy Bragg on the stereo in anticipation.

As far as I can tell, one of the main causes of all the f***ed up problems you have in the US that we don't have so much over here is a bizarre lack of gun control. Whenever anybody mentions it though, people seem to get all constitutional, as if something that wasn't stupid when it was written written over 200 years ago can't be stupid now.

The only polls that have closed are Indiana and Kentucky. Bush took both states. However, he was expected too. At 4:00 Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia's polls will close and we should hear more.

Clearly full of red necks and inbreds, though l was expected more republican supporters would have got their heads caught in their banjos thus missing the poll and letting Gore...the most boring man in the world outside of John Howard....win.

I hate to tell all you confused socialist errrr democrats but Bush is going to take Florida, especially if it relies on the absenty valots. I would guess 90% of the absenties are military and they dont like clinton/gore. Atleast the military has some intelligence.

In OZ the Labor Party (equiv of your Democrats) can count on getting the majority of votes from the military. Generally higher degree of lower socio economic status in members backgrounds. But l suppose in the US the military is full of gun toting rednecks, though l really caren't believe it.

Latest reports here is some highly strange carry ons in Flordia, return boxes not counted in initial ballot etc. Reminds of an Australian election.

In Alabama, the dead vote all the time. People only get in
trouble when they vote more than once.

Traditionally, absentee ballots favor the more conservative
candidate, because most absentee ballots are from older,
more affluent voters and the military. However, southern
Florida is the Democratic stronghold. Northern Florida is
indistinguisable from LA (Lower Alabama) and SE Georga. I
suspect (hope) that most of the votes are from Southern
Florida. This give a slight edge to Gore.....and he only
needs 1786 votes.

Forgot to ask...how are you enjoying the new addition to the family. Guess you haven't been around for a while due to lack of sleep.

He's great. Right now he is figuring out he has hands and feet. It is really cute. nothing like watching kids learn and play.

Most of the military despises Clinton/Gore for several reason.

1.They basically cut all our salaries(instead of a 4-6% anual raise it went down to 1% and under which doesn't even cover the inflation)

2.Cut spending for supplies and equipment.(couldn't maintain a regular training flying schedule and we had aircraft down for weeks since nobody had parts)

3.we were over deployed and under staffed

4.Who in the military would want to be lead by a draft dodger and someone whos dad made sure he was never in any real military activity.

I was in during the begining of the Clinton Administration and military moral fell through the floor because of him.

I get alittle caried away on politics sometimes. I have watch the socialist err Demacratic party destroy a country I was very proud of for the last several years. Peoples writes have been diminished and the goverment has been working harder and harder growing and making the people become more dependent on them. Its no secret that I am a christian. I have made that very clear while I have been on here. But what use to be the land of the free completely reinterprets what the costitution actually says and now I can be fine or arrested for having prayer in the morning in school which wasn't even manditory cause some kid asked his mom what god was. Women claim freedom to choose to kill an inocent child because they want control of there body. they had control of their body when they decided to have sex. That was when there choice was but they just don't want to take responsibility for their actions. This is what the Demacratic party has been spreading, no responsibility. I will say on abortion that I do think it should be aloud up to a point for rape victims, but this is from the standpoint of a non christian perspective and I feel they should keep the baby anyway. Now they are trying to take the guns away from the people, a constitutional right. tell me that they don't want to take away our freedom. Sorry but this is a very personal issue for me.

The state that is doing the vote recounting (florida) has a
gov. by the name of Jeb Bush, which turns out to be george w. bush's younger brother .. well how convienient for bush eh?.The reason why they are doing the recount is because of the way the ballot form was made.It showed it on TV. and you can tell how it has an unorganized selection.
the way it shows it...if someone voted for gore... there vote actually got sent to buchanan because of the **** up in the ballot form.And it was said that there were a bunch of votes for buchanan..hehe *i guess the officials got smart and figured out that so many people would not vote for buchanan so they had a recount* so with having said that... it looks like gore might be our president.






But i am not saying this is fact.. i am just stating my opinion :)

I haven't seen the form, but just because they didn't understand a confusing form doesn't make them idiots. And even idiots get a vote (note I don't say they should get a vote ;))

All this stuff about the right to bear arms and the constitution... we're talking about a document written over 200 years ago. Just because a law was sensible so long ago doesn't mean it's sensible in these times. We have laws in this country (UK) dating back a long time, some of which carry a death penalty for infringement, such as driving cattle/sheep across one certain bridge somewhere. That is a ridiculous law nowadays. The right to bear arms is, in my opinion, not as important as people like to think. Here in the UK, virtually noone carries a gun except people with a criminal lifestyle. I am glad I don't have to walk down the street knowing that everyone has a gun. We have basically no street gun battles except very occasionally in some heavily urban areas. I just don't see the need for anyone to carry a gun unless you intend to use it. It's asking for trouble.
