Excel shutting down access?
Hi,
Can anyone tell me why this piece of code shuts access down once the procedure has ended, and also how to stop it doing it?
Code:
Dim DPath As String
DPath = "S:\Hockney Folder Structure\CUSTOMER SERVICE\Michael\ACBS\ACBS.mdb"
Set oApp = CreateObject("Access.Application")
oApp.Visible = True
oApp.OpenCurrentDatabase DPath
Thanks

Re: Excel shutting down access?
Object variables are always closed when a procedure closes. If you want to open Access and keep it open try using The SHELL command.
Something like.
Shell("C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\msAccess.EXE", 1)
Re: Excel shutting down access?
If oApp is defined outside of the procedure like in the general declarations section then it wont close. If its declared in the procedure then the object variable will fall out of scope but it should still remain open depending on which procedure your placing this code in.
