[RESOLVED] Somethings crashing my machine
When I look in the Events Viewer I found the ff. error:
Quote:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: TlntSvr
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4053
Date: 12/30/2005
Time: 12:08:42 PM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER
Description:
WSAGetLastError() returned error: An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Anyone who can tell me a solution? I am not sure what is TlntSvr...
TIA
Re: Somethings crashing my machine
Could it be a virus? Have you done a scan lately?
Re: Somethings crashing my machine
Re: Somethings crashing my machine
It’s not necessarily a virus TlntSvr is the MS Telnet Server as RD’s second link says. So if you installed it there’s no problem. You should probably run a virus scan just in case…
Re: Somethings crashing my machine
Yeah Rob's second link also says
Quote:
This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.
Back to ontopic...
Goto Start -> Run and type services.msc
Look for telnet server or something similar, and Right click it properties, and in the drop down box where it says something like Automatic Manual and Disable chose Disable.
Re: Somethings crashing my machine
Thanks guys, will try your suggestions...
Re: [RESOLVED] Somethings crashing my machine
Disabling Telnet solved the problem... :afrog:

This is interesting as I have never heard of Telnet causing this kind of problem before.
Re: [RESOLVED] Somethings crashing my machine
I am not sure but perhaps I have installed something which is causing Telnet to have problems or there is really a virus in my machine, I haven't scanned yet...
Re: [RESOLVED] Somethings crashing my machine
Just out of curiousity, what kind of machine do you have and what OS are you running?
