Change 'hook points' for screens?
For christmas this year I got a 19" flat screen (YYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!) and I hooked it up to my laptop as a secondary screen. I use windows XP.
It works fantastic, but I was wondering if there's anyway I can change how they hook together (the software part, not hardware). My laptop is as wide as the new screen but shorter, so of course the link between the two screens has to either line up with the bottom or the top. It seems like the default is the top: moving my mouse off of the top of the laptop screen places it at the top of the flat screen. I can't move my mouse off of the bottom of the flat screen (it stops me) because that's "below" the laptop screen.
In any case, I want to know: can I change how this lines up? In the real world the bottoms line up so that would be nice.
Also is there any way to stop the mouse from going off the top right of the left screen? It makes it a lot easier to hit the "X" button.
Re: Change 'hook points' for screens?
Are you trying to run the two as dual monitors or cloning them or ???

In your Display Property dialog window > Settings tab > drag the monitor icon (either 1 or 2) that you want to arrange and let it align to the other as you desire. Yes, the Tops are the default. ;)

Drag the monitor icons to match the physical arrangement of your monitors.

Oh. Duh. I always wondered why I could drag them around, but the screens always snapped back because I dragged them too far.

But it worked for you, yes?

Oh yes, it worked great. Except I can't make it stick on the top-right (I suppose I could put the taller monitor on the left...)
Re: Change 'hook points' for screens?
If you change the resolution so they are different but look the same between each it will make the monitor icons about the asame size and should have the same positioning.
