#1 is clearer, but I don't like the color combination, actually.
#2 is using the color of the forms + frminternalsplash bgcolor. what colors wuld you recommend?
You could improve it... :)

In this splash screen I used &H00987758&, try experimenting with color combinations, I just felt that the color you selected were dull...
darker is better?
Not really, white is also fine...
No, but contrasting colors are imperatve, I think. Use High-Color's. The letters shouldn't be shaded, I think, unless the shades are solid black on a light background.
i was always told to be uniform throughout a program, especially when it comes to colors. changing those colors wouldnt be difficult at all. will have to come up with something.
I can't even find a screenshot of their splash screen, but I think the colors were used as dos didn't support highcolors on most monitors.
Splash screens for professional applications are not supposed to look like some 60's hippy attire. I like the the darker colors.
heheheQuote:

I didn't read all the posts, but the idea is really good...like it..but the colours is awfull...so I didn't vote at all..:)

its great to get peoples feedback and opinions. still looking into a decent color scheme for when the functionality of the app is completed.Quote:

I'm certain you have a target market for this application. You might want to see if you could get a user group together and run it by them. The people that you really need opinions on are the ones that are going to be using your application.
It needs a better color combination and maybe a design that doesnt look like a basic template. :)
only problem is, im no graphic designer ;)Quote:

1) Contrasting colors are good. Makes it easier to read. Dark color text on light backgrounds are easiest to read (ie black on white)
2) Use the system colors if at all possible. You never know when a color-blind person is going to use your app. Odds are they'll have a color scheme setup that they can use easily. By supplying youir own colors, it makes it tough for them to operate the app.
3) Take your first scrn shot there, shrink it.... then put it on a form (background white) as a logo, then text around it.

exactly my point. you can never please everyone. lol.Quote:

I plan to do something similar. all commercial apps have some kind of great color schemes that are easy on the eye. presentation is everything. people usually dont care whats "under the hood." all they care about is what the app looks like and what it can do. coding is only 15% of the production in my opinion, but of course, everyone has their own ideas. im sure that when the app is complete, ill post screen shots for feedback (good and bad).
being visually challenged myself, i have an idea of what someone in my situation needs in an app. i am also thinking of allowing the user to select a "skin" depending on their needs. of course, this is way down the road yet but its in my todo list.Quote:

I like it! I like it a lot!!
By the way, I notice that the other commercial developers that have posted in this thread were not advocating bright colors either. :D
so the color scheme and the transition is better now? i was thinking of using the same gradient for the internal and external forms.Quote:

thats what i was looking to do. uniform throughout. what do you think of this one? its the same as the other but with a slight raiseQuote:

I concur. The copyright info is hard to read. Maybe a different color altogether if it's going to be that small. If it's full-screen, that may be different, but if it's the size of the picture, it's hard to read.
Agree with dee-u and David, the lower text is very difficult to read. Suggest removing the shadow - see how that looks.
Other than that, the new scheme is wonderful, eye catching and pleasing too - great job.
thanks guys, will look into making the lower text clearer.
how about this. the splash screen will be up for about 5 seconds and then automatically closed to show the login screen
Nah, that might even be worse. How about if the letters in it were white? Or another color? The black shading really messes things up. Maybe even a bigger font for the last line?
Note: That's the line you really care that they see!
what about this?Quote:
