[RESOLVED] motherboard problems

i turned on an old Win2K machine yesterday and immediately got the following error:

BIOS ROM checksum error - System Halted

I looked up the error in the motherboard manual and it said "The checksum of ROM address F0000H-FFFFFH is bad."

Would it be possible to reflash the BIOS (and how would i do it?), or is it time to give up on it and get something new?

For security, the BIOS checksum is used ensure that the ROM has not changed. If it has it is either corrupt or an unauthorised program has written to it.

If you can flash the BIOS then give that a go; if that doesn't work, I suggest you ask Santa for a new mother board for Christmas. :)

managed to reflash the BIOS using MS-DOS 6.22 Install Disk #1.
