Please suggest me a bootable Linux
Friends
I like to run Linux from CD drive (without installing into hard disk) in my WinXP Sony Laptop.
Which Linux should I run? It must be able to boot from CD (I don't like to goofup my exising operating system).
Also, it should be free (or very cheap - so that I can get a CD from magazines/Ebay).
Thanks in advance.

Knoppix is probably the most well known. Ubuntu is pretty good too, you can order it from their website and they'll send you out two cds one a live and the other an install. There is no charge they pay postage as well. Damn Small Linux is fun if you've got a usb pen drive and you pc can boot from usb, it's only 50Mbs

It's knoppix, they have an iso on their site and a list of the tools included.

I've got Ubuntu for free and booted with the LiveCD without any problem!
Ubuntu seems to be quite nice (not used Knoppix though).

Knoppix, Ubuntu, DSL.
All good to boot from CD, and in most cases (with a big enough drive) USB pen drives :)
I have Ubuntu on my other Hard Drive right now, in fact... i might just use it soon...
I've tried Knoppix and Ubuntu, and Debian.
Knoppix rules, but Ubuntu kicked its ass, i had too many problems with pure Debian to make a comment though.
