Hello!
I want to set up my cd rom to just play CD's... for that I need to connect it
to a psu...
but the CD rom doesn't work without the PSU being connected to a motherboard...
so how can I use the psu without a motherboard?
thanks!

I don't think it was designed for that, could you explain what you'r trying to do and maybe someone else has a alternative method.
I'm pretty sure thats a safety feature, although i've never tried this i thought that th CD Drive may actually work stand-alone, except the drivers would be require,d and this is where the mobo comes in.Quote:

Yes it is possible. The easiest way would be to obtain an AT PSU as they have a big switch that turns it on. You'll also need a CD-Rom that has both an audio jack AND A PLAY BUTTON. It is possible to hotwire an ATX PSU, but you can pick up an AT easily if you don't already have one.
