RE: Apache and IIS
Hi,
Can somebody tell me what the prospective dangers are(if any) and what are the advantages of running IIS5.0 together with Apache?
The reason I ask is that IIs is not really friendly with mySQL. now some of my small busines clients have mySQL and I develop applications for them (1 particularly will be using e commerce software of my companies shortly) Now I no longer can be A$$ed fighting against IIS just because it wont talk to the mySQL Server properly through ODBC (The server instance was initailly installed and started from my proxy server, and use mySQL-front from this). but the bulk of my clients run IIs 5.0-6.0 so can't just switch from IIS to Apache, and not constantly switching from one machine to another .
(There is no way come hell or high water that I will stop developing on my machine just to use Apache EVER... Nor can I be a$$ed working on the laptop if I have a choice.)
So the only solution is to possibly explaore the realms of running them both from my workstation (Sever to the rest of you guys, I dont use workstations, not even on my laptop!!!) alongside eachother mirrored.
What are the implications/Dangers/procedures in doing this??
Need details on this peeps please.
ta very much
