Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
Hey guys:
I am thinking of taking the MOUS certifications. Going to start with OutLook, then go onto Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Does anyone know where I can find out additional information about the MOUS certs, how many questions, what kind of things the exam(s) covers, etc?
I can get the exams for $60 each. If anyone knows any additional info, please advise if you can. Thanks!

Wossy can give you advice on Outlook - VBA intergration.
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
Go to microsoft's website and search for MOUS. It will show you what the requirements are and what you should know for each type fo test.
I would recommend starting with Word as its the easiest. Outlook is the hardest as its the most complex.

Thanks, I'll take your recommendation. Do you know if you have to be certified in all of the areas of MS Office to be MOUS certified or will a single exam, like MS Word be sufficient? I also tried to find that out and couldnt find anything, hehe.
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
There are 3 levels of certification for MOUS.
Specialist Certification
Expert Certification
Master Certification
You only need to pass one (1) exam to be considered MOUS (Specialist) certified.
I did a search on MS and this link describes all the details. :)

Thanks. In your opinion, which version of Office is used most of the time, 2000, XP or 2003?
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
I'm qualified in Word 2000 at specialist level, i must agree its by far the easiest test.
I'm looking for somewhere to do the rest, my testing centre is miles away from me :(
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
Do you feel that the MOUS certification has helped you in your career in any way? I know the MCP, MCAD, & MCSD do allot but i was just curious.
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
Well my career hasn't even started yet, but i must say it still does make a difference, i feel that as soon as i mentioned it i got my course.
The person who i talked to about my course was delighted to see i had already started taking on things like these.
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
That is how I got my first real professional programming job. I had got my MCP on my own and during the interview they said they like that I was a self starter and investing in my own career.
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
Probably best to go for the newest version of Office you can (XP), that way the qualification will last longer

The lastest version is Office 2003, but Office 12 (2006) is due to come out late 06. Its already in Beta 1 but not publically released or available with MSDN subscription either. You need to have passed a few specialized tests in order to get the preview.
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
I thought the latest version was Office XP?
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
Your only about 2 years behind the times. :) Office 2003 is da bomb. Many more improvements over XP and 2000. I posted a link to download free trial versions of all 2003 Office suite apps. Let me find it again.

The company I'm doing some onsite work at just rolled out Office 2003 (my company laptop already had it :D ) and the employees around here are scratching their heads and asking me all kinds of questions.
Change hits some people really hard.
Re: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Exam Question
My favorite feature of Outlook 2003 is the multi-calendar viewer. :thumb:
So, I guess I'll see you finally posting something new in OD. Its been a long time. :D
When going over the MOUS requirements I seen that I think I can pass most of them. Hmm,...
