Based on my experiences, IT departments tend to be technical, netwtork, servers, things like that. While MIS departments are more buisiness oriented, analysis, reporting, etc.

My experiences coinside with tg's. The M in MIS generally stands for Management (Managment Information Services, and I've also seen Managed Information Services). They sort of act as the go betweens in terms of customers vs technical people. They know more about the business end things than we do (usually enough to get us in trouble :D )
I think of them as the folks that translate customer speak into terms I can understand and techie talk into terms the customer can understand.
IT Guy to MIS Guy: I can't implement this feature, there is no existing programming paradigm which would allow a web server to issue a client-side command on a user's computer after the page execution has completed!
MIS Guy to Customer: It'll take just a few more days. :)
 Could not have said it better froggie!!!! :lol:Quote:

This is usually because the MIS guy has higher qualifications.
Hi,
MIs departments are the bane of anybodies existence. I consulted for alarge comapny that used an MIs department form an external scrouce for about a year and everything we said or I reported as a recommendation, was turned around and just interpreted to please management.
theyre go-between worms who like to think theyre intelligent, but simply are just feeding information ina more understandable format (with alot of crap thrown in to try adn substantiate theyre salary), which usually ends up in them making excuses and blaming soebody else when they cant deliver, as they have just said the opposite to either keep their jobs and make them look worthy.
Morale.
go straight to the IT guy,
