Is it too much to ask? How hard is it really to add these hated runfiles to Windows?
While it is just a tiny thing to add to Windows it a GIANT thing to a 12kb application.
I would to like to send my program to people without run-files and with no setup packs, this can be easily arranged so why not?
I am not talking about all the OCXs ever existed but the most default ones as winsock should be included too, don't Microsoft think it will help us?
One thing, updating the runfiles maybe needed but isn't it easy to add some internet based update to Windows? A lot of programs do it, why can't the OS update the runfiles for once and save thousands of wasted MB to the programmers?
Geez.

I Believe there included with IE 5, but i'm not sure. Also, i would be a good thing to add to windows update(VB Runtime Update)

Because it's MS you're talking about...It's been an issue for SO long...and they still seem to ignore it. I don't even know if they included them with Win2k/WinME and i wouldn't be surprused if they didn't.

The new .Net stuff will have common runtimes shared between the different programming languages and will be shipped with Internet Explorer, and some other products.

I Hope So
Runtimes are my greatest enemies

that means those are going to be even bigger

They probably will be, but at least they will be on the machine already and we won't have to include them in our install.
