belkin wap
i recently bought a belkin wireless access point (f5d6130z), and plugged it into my d-link router (di707p).
my laptop has a wireless card in it, i believe a dell one... it's an inspiron 8200
i'm having trouble in that the network isn't even coming up in the network list on the laptop.
when i restored the factory defaults on the access point, it worked briefly, but after that it seemed to be patchy at best
Just wondering if anyone had any experience in the matter, and perhaps a quick fix for me :)
Thanks!

Re: belkin wap
More than likely you just need to change the SID channel from the default. Most people never change this and so if someone near you is also running on that channel you will get very intermittent signals.
It should be easy to change in the config screen for the Belikn and just make sure that the belkin and the d-link are on the same channel. Hope that helps

Re: belkin wap
i've changed the ssid and channel from the default, in network connections, the wireless card doesn't have a red cross on it yet it still isn't connected...
the access point is about 1.5m above my laptop atm and it's just not working!
the card in the laptop is set to the same channel as the wap too
any other ideas :?

Re: belkin wap
There is usually a switch on the laptop that turns on and off the wireless signal.
I've had two clients that had it switched off :)
Have you run the Wireless Networking wizard? Just go to Network Neighborhood and click Set Up a Wireless Network, and follow the steps.
