Weird problem with computer
Basically explorer seems to be restarting itself every 1/2 minutes or so
I don't mean the entire computer, i mean the actual explorer.exe process...
Running windows xp, perhaps a virus? anyone know or experienced this before.
I'm doing an trendmicro housecall check so i'll see how that goes, thanks
Re: Weird problem with computer
If it doesnt popup any error messages then its hard to know why but a scan is the best place to start. ;)
Re: Weird problem with computer
Check the Event Viewer. It may give you a clue to the cause of the problem.
Re: Weird problem with computer
Yes, a good suggestion but unfortunatly the EV usually has vague descriptions or the error code is so broad of a range of potential issues its not very helpful. But hopefully not in this case. ;)
Re: Weird problem with computer
If your scan reveals a trojan and you still experience the problem then look here:
Explorer Restarting Itself
Re: Weird problem with computer
yeah it happened to my gf's computer...
explorer would close itself or something...
never figured out what it was, but a Clean format and new Norton Internet Security did the job
Re: Weird problem with computer

Of course, only from the same OS, if its a Windows XP Home edition don't take a user32.dll from WinXP Pro or Win 98. Bad things might happen if you do...

true true
i have found that if windows suffers from an error, the best thing is to do a clean install....
windows doesn't recover from errors well
Re: Weird problem with computer
yes i was just using that as an example and i was assuming that da_silvy would be smart enough to know to copy it fro mthe same os
