[RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
I need help creating a button in the navigation pane of outlook, preferably an Add-in. I want to be able to click the button and open Outlooks version of Internet explorer.
Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
What do you mean "Outlooks version of Internet Explorer"? It should just open in Outlooks Explorer window as a webpage, etc.
You would think creating a top level MAPIFolder may do it but not. :(
I'm still working on your Reminders thread. ;)
Ps, nice image masking. ;)
Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
Thats what I ment as in Outlooks Explorer window. I can't seem to get my add-in to actually add to the main Navigation. For whatever reason it just adds a shortcut in the Shortcuts section.
Thanks for the comment on the image masking. I worked really hard on it. Took up almost 45 seconds of my time. :bigyello:
Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
I'm multi-tasking on both since they are dealing with Outlook. :D
The pane is actually called WunderBar. ;)

Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
Ya, its a pain in the but to work with since its a MS proprietary ActiveX control. Its all sealed and no child windows and stuff.
Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
that may be why i can't seem to get it to work. I am sure there has to be a way around it.
Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
anyone know of way around this issue?
Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
I did find an xml file that Outlook uses for its wunderbar, like an ini type file. Not very helpful for creating the button but I'll keep digging. :D
Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
Yeah, when i get bored i like to dig open files and see whats inside them, i have found that file before. I orignally started there but no luck.
Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button

Re: Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
Ok, just verified with an Outlook MVP, its not possible to do in 2003. :( Maybe next year in Outlook 12 but dont hold your breath. ;)

Re: [RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
Ya, me too. I thought that would be cool to be able to add a custom button there. :(
Re: [RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button

Re: [RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
I'm working on passing two of the test in order to be elligable for a preview copy of Beta 1 of version 12. Its not available to the general public yet. :D
Re: [RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
well good luck with all of that. i did see an article posted on i think slashdot about the next version of office. it had some screen shots of the new suite. one of them was of a built in office menu creator. Kind of like a VB editor but allowed you to create your own menus.
Re: [RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
Cool, do you have the link still?

Re: [RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
I can not wait till Vista and Office 12 come out. It will be a nice change in scenery. I am tired of the bland windows that i have been staring at since 1995.
Re: [RESOLVED] Outlook - New Navigation Pane Button
Thanks allot! :thumb:
I think the complete product will look like the Word SaveAs dialog. Kind of like an iMac theme gel buttons. :D
