Upgrade to service pack 2?
For a long while now, I havn't updated to service pack 2 because I've been worried about all the problems with networking and some applications and security features that come with it.
But I've been looking into it and wondering if I should go ahead and upgrade to sp2 or not. On a programming note, it would be good so that my system is set up the same as a general users system (most people would have sp2 if they didn't know what they were doing really with a pc)
But on my own note, if I started having problems networking freely, I'd become irritated..
So whats the opinion from the VBForum crowd?
Re: Upgrade to service pack 2?
It's been discussed before. I had a problem when I installed a few months ago on my XP Pro machine. Ended up taking a week on the phone with MS to resolve. The bottom line was that I hadn't downloaded all the OTHER updates before I installed SP2. MS said that not doing that caused MOST of the problem s that people had.
My problem was that I couldn't access Windows Update after the install. The way I fixed it was to uninstall and reinstall my sound card. Not sure if it was a newer version or not, though.

I've never had any issues with it. It gives you USB2 support (if you didn't already have SP1) the new Windows Firewall and Security Centre, and some nice features that you find by looking around such as speed tests for drives, etc. It is very much a big improvement over vanilla XP.
