I always hear that linux is an Open Source OS, so how can i download the Souce !!!!!!

Hello every body!!!!!
In every Linux website that i visit, they say that Linux is an open source...But this is only what they say.
So if Linux is open source, where can peoples get Linux source code(of course pro programmers) and in what compiler linux made, and what version of Linux is open source.......
Can any body explain all this things!!!!
