I've been doing programming in gw basic, and would like get started useing vb but I don't know where to start.
Here's an idea of what I need or woild like to do.
- use scanned map as back ground.
- place a grid on top.
- which would be colored differant as work is completed.
- also what computer requirements are need to use the vb progam.

Go to the computer store, and have a look at the VB package on the shelf, it will tell you what hardware you need to run it.
I think you could get away with the Learning Edition of VB (about $120) for what you want to do.
Colouring the squares will probably require some API functions. I think VB-LE is subject to restricted API stuff, but I cant remember for sure, maybe maybe not.

Theres somewhat huge differences between Gwbasic and VB, The most important, there are no numbers for each line. The other huge one is that VB is object oriented and there are functins and subs instead of gosubs. I hope you will learn a lot.
