Can anyone help with this general query? I have just started a study concerning aspects of the history of mathematics etc and I am doing a piece about Napier, Briggs etc. I specifically need to find out how napier ACTUALLY created, developed the logarithms and procued the log tables....
I haven't found nything sufficinet to help me yet..... anyone?

thanks for giving me the reference to that pdf file re:napier and his logarithms. in answer to your question about "rice university". No I am not. I am a mathematics enthusiast. I adore mathematics
btw, did you read the pdf article about Napier? if so, did you make the connection between his 'approach to logarithms' and what we have today? 'cos, I will be honest, I didn't quite make the link. (maybe its me having a thick day,Mmm?).
more than anything I am trying to 'link' logarithms etc with references to numbers, indices, powers etc. if anyone has other additional explanations,material etc ....I would be very grateful for any help.
