USB Mouse wont start

I burned my on board USB
Bought a PCI adapter, 2.0 compatible, 4 outputs. Installed it, started my PC, and it asked for the CD. Inserted the CD that came with the adapter and followed instructions.
Upon software installation, my optical mouse lighted up and began functioning OK.
Next time I started my PC, the mouse was dead. I re-installed the software from the beginning, and it started again.
NOW: every time I start my PC in the morning, the mouse is dead. Any action I take, e.g. unplug the USB cable and plug it again, and the mouse starts and works all day. Or I ReSet the PC, then it starts normally. I turn my PC off, wait a few minutes, then start it again, and the mouse works well. But next day in the morning, it refuses to start.
What can I do???

Get a ps2 mouse?

yeah tht would be ure best bet by a mouse with a wire u can then have no hassle

I hate rolling mice. I am happy with my optical smoothness and resolution. And what will I do when I get my USB Laser Jet back?

TrackBalls are the bomb.

ps2 doesnt mean its a ball mouse you get optical ps2 mouse's

Yeah, you're right. But will I have to discard a good, new USB mouse? And what about my printer? Is not there a solution?

you could get a USB to PS2 adapter..theyre cheap

You can get addapters that go from USB to ps2 (i had once that came with my mouse).

Would that be a solution? Do you think it's the mouse fault? It worked perfectly before, with the original USB, it's the new USB who doesn't start, I guess...

try using another USB mouse in the drive. If it doesn't work then its a bad card.

the PS2 adapter should fix it, only thing I dont really like about the PS2 connector is that it leaves the mouses laser on

A MOUSE IS A MOUSE

if its not long enough then get a longer cable

god we all must be bored to talk about things like this but anyway a ps2 mouse doesnt have to be cabled

Try another USB device in the card, if it also presents the same behaviour, then replace the card. It should initialize the card as the computer boots up and hence the mouse, so going to PS2 seems like a way around the problem, not a fix.
