I cant use the VB6 built-in menu, because I cant generate menuitems in runtime, I need a menu component registered onto the toolbox, which can be placed onto the form the same way as any other components can be...

Yes, the CoolBar control should work.. BUT, I don't know how to use it, so dont ask me. Also, if you want an Office 2003 type of look, there's a great one at vbAccelerator.com (which you can add itmes to at runtime). But are you sure you cant use an MRU type of thing?

what is that "MRU"?

MRU stands for Most Recently Used. It's a list of recently used files normally available from the File menu in different programs.
