My Motherboard Has Blown

My motherboard has gone and died on me :cry:

Now I can build a whole new system :wave: :afrog:

What do you reckon I should aim at?
I have vague requirements.

1. Quietness is fairly important
2. Looking good i.e. not a beige case
3. I don't have unlimited cash i.e. over £1k is too much
4. Cool technology factor i.e. Galium cooled GPUs etc

It is never the time to get a new PC because you always want something new.
However, do you think I should wait for more mature 64 bit processors / operating systems or multiple processor cpus or just get what is around now?

Anyone have a fantasy system that they would like to post to get me going with ideas?

I was eyeing this system up earlier, its simply the tower, you will need a monitor, keyboard mouse etc...

As you are on a budget, I would recommend basically what thegreatone said, but with a matched pair of Ram if you can get it at a decent price (it's a little faster). That's basically what I've got (but a PCI-Express version)

For quietness, you will need to spend a fair amount on a Quiet/Silent PSU and CPU fan (possibly £100, depending on what you go for).

You can get good looking cases cheap (mine was £23 including a reasonable 350W PSU).

AMD 64 bit processors are fine, but the OS isn't recommended yet (you can get it free in exchange for XP Pro). Multiple processors have been around for a while, but don't generally do much good, as they need software which takes advantage of it (which isn't much).

By the way, you can get most of those parts cheaper from the places I bought my parts from: Novatech.com , Savastore.co.uk , and Komplett.co.uk
(I got more choice and saved over £50, even after paying 3 delivery charges ;) )

That graphics card is kicking ass. I nearly bought the PE version of it this winter. It was and probably is the fastest gamer card on the market. ANd Saphire kicks ass when it comes to graphics cards.
