Active Directory [Self-Resolved]
I finished setting up Server 2003 and promoted it to a Domain Controller installing SP-1, Active Directory, DNS, & IIS.
I went to create some user accounts and it wont let me stating that the policy wouldnt allow it? I am logged in under the
Administrator account and a member of the Domain Administrators. I havent changed any security settings or anything.
After AD is installed is there something else that I need to do maybe?

Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements.
I used a 12 character alpha-numeric non-repeating password and still the error. :(
Re: Active Directory [Self-Resolved]
Is 2003 pretty much the same as 2000? i expect there to be more bells and whistles but the technology has not really changed a lot, huh?
Re: Active Directory [Self-Resolved]
Lots more bells and whistles but looks so far as though the majority of things are still the same.
Re: Active Directory [Self-Resolved]
i may have to grab a 'demo' or a 'backup' {wink wink} to check it out.
Re: Active Directory [Self-Resolved]
2k3 has more bells and whistles. But thing that I don't like about it is getting an existing 2000 domain to be successfully converted to to 2003 domain structure. (running a domain of both 2000 and 2k3 servers) can be a pain sometimes. I have't successfully got it to work, the 2000 domain I have set up for me to play with got hosed when I tried to add a 2003 DC to it.
Re: Active Directory [Self-Resolved]
You could demote your PDC and re-promote it back but this time select "New Domain in a New Forest". ;)
