Re: PC Slow afer SP2 Install
Did you apply all updates before you installed SP2? It doesn't include all needed updates, so you may need an updated driver or two. I was told to hit windows updates until there is nothing to install and THEN install SP2.
I had an issue with my Creative Labs hardware that was a couple of years old. After SP2, I couldn't access Windows Update! I was on the phone with M$ for about 12 hours over the course of 3 calls in a week's time.
Finally, I disabled the hardware, and it worked. I reinstalled the new drivers, and things were good to go. SP2 help was (and probably still is) free, so you might want to fill out a request.
Re: PC Slow afer SP2 Install
Thanx for the advice.
The installation I got *included* sp2..no seperate installation.
No internet connection over there now for updating either.
But what you *DID* remind me off, is that I never installed the drivers from the motherboard I got when I bought the machine.....stupid huh? I will try that tonight.
Cheers!
ps. I remember reading somewhere you can download all new updates in a bundle and then take it somewhere else (like home for me) and install them....hmmm...forgot where though...any advice?
Re: PC Slow afer SP2 Install
try checking your cpu and memory usage... maybe there is a process taking more than expected
Re: PC Slow afer SP2 Install
Hi,
Problem solved. Got a new WinXP installation, but I think what solved the problem was the drives I installed...or should I say, Forgot to install
thanx for the replies though. Good to know there's always someone keen to help out.
