Re: help with hard drive comparison
What connection does your USB case accept ?
If its only ATA then get the ATA-100 one, if its SATA go wi th the serial ATA one.
The only difference is speed access to the Hard-Drives.
Re: help with hard drive comparison
hey thanks, i didnt even decide on one yet, ive checked alot of places locally, and they all told me they'd have to ordere it. so i figured i do some online broswing first, thats basiclly i bet what they would of done anyways. i think i might finally decide on a case latr on tonight after work. ive put this project off for the longest time, and i think it time to get it done finally. thanks for help - justin

___the hard drive.... = http://3btech.net/whlamadate202.html
Re: help with hard drive comparison
That case you selected requires a (E)IDE hard drive. I couldn't check the hard drive for ya because there wasnt one at that link.
If you get an SATA harddrive then your enclosure MUST support SATA (they are different connectors).

Re: help with hard drive comparison
well can anyone answer my question. is the drop down 21.99 option for the 160gb harddrive the same, as if i were to buy it from the other site.? the links are one the page if u would like to help. thsi is my last quesion n i will decide to buy it! thanks - justin
Re: help with hard drive comparison
I don't beleive you will be able to use the cooler if you put the hard drive in the external enclosure.
Re: help with hard drive comparison
i dont want thecooler, i just want 2 make sure the 2nd option underneath the cooler, the usb case for 21.99 is the same as the one i found at other sites. i dont mean the same exact, but the pretty same general idea, where i can plug ide hd into it and run it from usb as remoivable storage. - justin

Re: help with hard drive comparison
Just my .02...I have a WD external USB 2.0 drive (250 Gig) that has firewire(which of course is slower than usb 2.0) and have NEVER had a problem. Another good company is maxtor...their customer service and warranty coverage is UNTOUCHED. I recommend these two companies highly.
Re: help with hard drive comparison
alright thanks.. ive check out external usb hd, they are quite expensive. so i figured why not get an internal hd, and buy thr usb case seperate and make my own external usb hd for 1\2 the price. so i just want an internal ide hd - plug it into the usb case. i just want to b sure - justin
Re: help with hard drive comparison
you can definetly do that but in the case of my WD, I have special buttons to do certain things that may not be available otherwise...LIKE I USE THEM...LOL
