Is it possible to uninstall the patch? (Having no idea what the patch is, that is the solution that pops immediately to mind.)
How, everything has dissapeared, i have no taskabr, all the desktop vanished, no start menu, my computer etc, im lucky to have Opera running.
Damn, wish i never bothered, someone please upload me the original uxtheme.dll
.........
Always make a backup copy of any file your going to replace with a patch or modified version. :)
Thanks, where do i put it/how to install?
im on XPSP2 Pro
C:/windows/System32
Thing is, how are you going to get there, you said that everything's gone.
Try WindowsKey + E, that should open up explorer.
Fixed thanks, i had to work in the Ctrl+Alt+Delete Run Task Dialog window, extract there etc, works ok now thanks pal ;)
It works ox for Windows Classic theme, but Windows XP (blue, silver etc) wont change!
Why cant i change them
I don't know, i would give you my UXTheme.dll to see if that makes any difference, but i am on XP SP2 Home :(
The Home and Pro may cause issues...
ok thanks anyway, does anybody have XP Pro SP2?
Added it just incase its different from earlier ones.
If it still isn't here in a couple hours, I'll post it when I get to work. I don't have SP2 on the laptop, but we have it at work.
Thank you!Quote:

Huh, that's odd it shouldn't do that. I've tested it on lots of computers, still you can never be too sure. The script makes a backup of your original called uxtheme.bkp in the system32 directory.
P.S. It does warn you :P
All the same, id rather not trust you :D
Fair enough, I guess I don't blame you, though I don't understand why it would not have worked, unless you used the incorrect one, or you had something else that may have prevented it working properly.
I am running XP Pro SP2, i used and downloaded the correct uxtheme.dll patch file, it corrupt the themes, except the Windows Classic one.
Its fixed now, so id rather just forget about it thanks
i have the same problem, though using Vista Home Basic!
Try the file in post #12!Quote:
