lol i know that post is about 1 yr old but hey if any person need the answer here it is
go into display properties then click settings then advanced then click on the displays tab and click the button that looks like an ON button and then configure your tv setting e.g the resolution etc...

I had a card that would boot to the tv if there wasn't a monitor plugged into the computer. There was an icon that was in the taskbar that allowed me to switch back and forth, as well as select the resolution.
Do you have a Super Video jack for the computer and your TV?
i have an at radeon 9200 with a tv out port. i have a cable that on one end it has a S-Video connection and on the other end it has a Video connection. It is connected into a video player but ati say that you can connect them into vcr.at the moment i have to tick force detect every time i start the system up and set it to clone but i would like it to automaticly clone the tv with the monitor display.
I've got the 9600 pro...
It dos go to the tv - but I need to enable it. Never shut down with it enabled so I cannot say if it holds the status.
Worked a treat last time, but fiddly to set up initially. As posted above Display>Advanced>one of the ati extra tabs has the tv/monitors, and you can turn it on from there. You'd have to see if it holds it when shutting down and restarting though, probably would default back to monitor though.
it does go back to defaults when you restart but when the card first was installed it automaticly found the tv and set it up but now i have to manualy set it up and foce it to detect the tv.
Don't know if this helps, but my Radeon 7000 w/s-video out was a pain to get working... I couldn't enable TV out because it wouldn't detect a tv connection, and it was only doing it's job as I don't have an s-video connection on my tv. I am using a s-video to Composite (RCA) adapter to plug into my tv. But to get the thing working, I had to go and download a new set of drivers fron http://www.omegadrivers.net as they have the option of forcing detection of the display. I beleive that once installed you just goto the display properties and select 'Advanced' from the settings tab for the display you are enabling TV on. Then go to the 'Displays' tab and under the TV box, you will see a button 'Troubleshoot', click it and it will give you the option of forcing detection. That will enable the TV 'Power' button and allow you to change all settings for the TV out.
Good luck, hope that helps.

i have the latest offical ati radeon drivers but i would like to get it so that i dont need to change anything to get it to pick up the tv. i have the same as you.
hi, i have got it so that my tv, vcr and computer are all going through one av port and i have just found something out. when i turn the tv off so it is just vcr and pc (and a tv on coaxcial) my card found the vcr but it only found it when it when i turned the tv off. i cannot connect the tv via coaxial because my stupid little brother broke it off but maybe my sister will let me have her tv or one of the other tv's here.still not resolved but it means i got to somehow get another tv to check this out.
