Your allowed to choose: No Emails, Daily Updates or Weekly Updates. So its only one email a day at most per user :).Quote:

you are involved in. "Default Thread Subscription Mode" set to "Do not subscribe, No Emails, Instant Email, Daily Email, Weekly Email".
:)
I've used the default for threads. I guess one email per user could still generate a lot of email, but I guess it's better than mailing all changes. That would be like an rss feed.
I have mine setup so that I subscribe to threads on a daily basis and I've noticed the emails always get sent out at 04:42 in the morning. I'm not sure if it does that time based on your timezone but its quite useful for me cos I get the updates at the one time I'm not likely to be on-line :).
But I'd guessed that surely there must be abit of slow down at this timebecause thats al awful lot of emails to go out if everyone gets them at the same time. Or do most people still just use instant you think?
I subscribed to the DCOM forum but I never get emails, even though I specified to get them. Are you sure this works? Maybe I did something wrong...
Try subscribing again. You won't get an email if there are no posts in the forum though.Quote:

Thanks guys, it works now. So, now how can I unsubscribe from a forum?
In User Control Panel, you can click List Subscriptions, and then select from threads and (I suppose Forums) I am not subscribed to any forums so I can't check it.
To unsubscribe to a forum go to the main user CP page and you'll see all your subscribed forums. From there you can unsubscribe clicking the link shown below.
Did you get what you needed to do it?
Ya, thanks visualAd. That forum subscription is useless.
Unless you are a moderator of that forum
Some mail systems (such as hotmail, gmail, yahoo, etc) will place mail from the forums into the spam folder. To avoid this, you should add [email protected] to your contacts. This generally stops messages from going to the spam folder.
Brad!
This was not the problem. The problem is it does not notify me when a new message enters the subscribed forum. It's more like once a day it will send me an email if something on the forum changed. This is useless. I do that myself. I was looking to get an email for each post in the forum at the time of the post. On light forums this seems like an OK thing.
That would generate a lot of traffic, especially in the more active forums. Only the admins can set this up for though and its usually only done for moderators of quiet forums, like PHP. :)
I do agree though it does com in most useful.
Yeah i got to change my settings also. I get the instant email thingy. The blabber mouth forums hammer my in-box.
How would i change everything to a different subscription type without having to mark each individual thread or mark each page?
Goto "List Subscriptions" in the user CP. You can then select all and change the subscription type from the drop down box at the bottom.
If you want to see more per per page you need to add &pp=200 to the URL, I think the maximum is 200 actually.
Hum ill give it a try. Thanks. :thumb: It would be nice to be able to select all though. *hint* *hint*.
