Microsoft ends mainstream support for VB6 as of March 31
Note to all Moderators: Please do not move this post since I feel it's important for anyone that still uses classic VB and have old code that needs to be supported.
Microsoft has announced that it will end its mainstream support for VB6 as of March 31, 2005. That is 3 weeks away (as of this writing).
Hundreds of MVPS has started an online petition that demands that MS continues supporting classic VB and that they further develop VB6. They ask that a new version of VB6 (which they for brevity calls VB.COM) will be included in Visual Studio. So there would be two versions of VB, one for managed code (VB.Net) and one for unmanaged code (VB.COM) in the same mannar that MS has continued supporting their old C++ tool for unmanaged code and introduced C# for managed code.
Please, if you want MS to continue develop and support classic VB, sign the petiton at http://www.classicvb.org/petition.
