Re: dynamic ip into static
No you can't change your PC to a static IP address. But why do you use AOL if they are that bad. Every ISP in Norway let you do that. But you might have to pay more.
But you can do an other trick. At least for your webpage. Go to http://www.dyndns.org/. It will check your IP and update a record on the internet when it changes, so you don't have to do it all the time.

Re: dynamic ip into static
how can i get my mail server to be able to send emails to domains out side my network with dyndns because that was one of the things i could not do with out a static ip. my website is set up now (http://ddodn.ath.cx/). how do i set up mail exchanger or what ever it is?
Re: dynamic ip into static
ok i have been using dyndns.org for a few weeks now and i have just found out that they have banned my account for updating it to much. i have been updating it every time my server had its internet connection reset. is there any sites like dyndns that dont have this policy.
Re: dynamic ip into static
You should also consider reading AOL's Acceptable Use Policy as it likely you can also be banned for running a server.
