Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
You could try optimizing some of the images. Like convert an image from bmp to gif will save you space.
The support images forum is mainly for images that are needed in tutorials.

That would still count towards your attachment quota.
You could just delete the attachments that are really no longer needed or
were very specific. Ones that will not affect the thread if they are no longer there. ;)
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
The whole reason that i asked is because i noticed that I use the same ones over and over. They are jpg right now. I thought they were the smallest. I do screenshots and form shots. Rather than looking for old links to what I need, I thought that i could have them all in one thread in S.I.
I am just thinking of people who search for threads and no longer see the picture that helped someone else.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
Yes, then in explaining it that way it is probably more effecient if you reuse image links instead
of re-attaching a copy of one. The Support Images Forums sounds like it could be used this way,
but originally they wanted to make sure it wouldnt get allot of images that were not involved with tutorials.
It sounds like a good idea and hopefully it will help members to stay under their attachment quota.
Probably one of the SuperMods or Admins would have to give the ok.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
The Support Images Forum is just there because when people were posting tutorials they may have 6+ small images and the last version of the forum only allowed one file per post. So then you would have a tutorial and 5-6 posts at the end to hold the images that were linked to above. This version lets you fit 5 on each post but if more is needed then the Support Images Forum is here for that :).
And to my knowledge the Attachment quota can't be turned off on a per forum basis, I don't know this for sure though.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
Yes, but would that be ok to use the SI forum for non-tutorial images like suggested?
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
So even attachments in the CodeBank get removed when a user deletes his attachments? I thought there would be somewhere that they remained, or owned by the system.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
Nope, no safe place. All attachments are owned by the poster, no matter which forum.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
I think there should be a way for attachments to become system-owned. Maybe have an admin or mod change it over? Or else, be liberal with space. I filled mine then deleted everything, then filled it up again, in a little over six months.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
Met your quota twice already!
I would suggest that you crop your images to a smaller size and only include
relevant areas (dont do full screen shots, etc) and try to be more selective
on what you attach. At your rate the servers would max out soon enough if
we expanded the quota many times over for everyone.
Most members seem to do ok handling their quotas. Something your doing
that the others arent is setting you apart?
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
more posts? I like visual clues. While they're not vital, they make the explanation easier. You know, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
There is nothing wrong with that if you like managing your quota all the time. ;)
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
that's why i need to find a central area to put them, and then refer back to them. only makes sense

If they aren't vital and are only for clues then reduce the quality.
Have we been using this version for 6months? doesn't feel like 6 months since we upgraded.
Re: Attachment Size Exceeded
We upgraded 2nd of December if I recall correct.
