how many beeps does it chirp when you boot up? more than one indicate a problem, usually. try holding down F2 when it's booting to go into setup mode. you may get lucky.
You may have a dead motherboard. I've seen this three times, and three times it was the motherboard, but I could be wrong in your case.
Thanks for the responses guys, Ill check the F2 trick when I get home. I dont believe its the motherboard cause my friend, the owner of the PC, has had the same problem before, he took the machine to some shop and they fixed it for him. I dont know what they did though, hes gonna ask them today.
Beeps? there are no beeps whatsoever
it could be a monitor problemQuote:

make sure that the right voltage is selected. it's not a problem as the plugs are different, but if you plugged a 220v plug in and didn't switch the voltage, I think there may be a problem. Not sure, all I know is that it won't boot if it is set to 220v instead of 120v.
its not the monitor since I have tried now in other 2.Quote:

I seriously doubt that could be the problem since the PC was working fine just hours before and none has gone to the back of the case in months.Quote:

Try taking all the cards and RAM out and putting them back in. I just fixed a mate's computer that had problems similar to this, moved the ram and it worked again, good as new.
You mean like this could be a misplaced memory bar that needs readjustment? What would happen if I start the PC without RAM?Quote:

No, like a bit of dust or something similar preventing a connection. Wouldn't hurt to try.Quote:

Also check that you videocard is 100% in it's slot. I just installed a new HDD; and had to take out my GPU, and when I added it back, it was a slight glip in the back of it. So the computer wouldn't start.
I recently had a similar problem, i did everything said on here, changed nearly every part of the copmuter but no luck. So i sent it to a company through my insurence and they couldnt find the problem and give me a nice new one. Ive had people say the case could have magnatised or that the motherboard has over loaded and blew everything attached to it, but since i changed all these with no luck they couldnt be. Sorry mate but if its the same as what happened to me its buggered.
removing everything and then replacing it has been known to work in a few circumstances. i cannot explain why it worked under any of the circumstances. I just know that it did.
its a computer it never makes sence
