I think/know/heard somewhere that VB is not very efficient when it comes to string manipulations.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to improve performance when manipulating (mostly concatenating large strings together) strings?

Most negative things you hear about VB are no longer/never were true. In any case do you have a specific problem we can help you with? If you do give an example, please also specify which VB you are using since there are string functions in VB6 that are not available in VB5 etc.
There are some third party libraries(dlls) that are written in assembly for VB and they really speed up string manipulation. Go to vbxtras.com and look up Crescent software. Hope that help!
Strange.. I read somewhere VB was (one of the) fastest languages manipulating strings & textfiles...
