[RESOLVED]Find the equation of the axis of symmetry and the vertex of x
Hey guys. This has to do with Porabala's and finding the Vertex and axis of symmetry. I know the basic function of how to do it, but I am not coming up with the correct answer.
Here is the equation x = -3y2 + y + 4
Now, I have found the y coordinate which is -1/6. Now I need to find the Vertex which is (? , -1/6).
Basically all that has to be done is replace the y's in the equation with -1/6, but for some reason I am having trouble getting the correct answer.
Any help is appreciated! :wave:
Re: Find the equation of the axis of symmetry and the vertex of x
Never mind I figured it out.
y = 1/6; vertex = ( 49/12 , 1/6)
I was using -1/6 instead of 1/6, which was totaly screwing everything up.
