Write something that you feel strongly about, even if you think it may be stupid all that matters is that you can argue both side of the argument. For instance Smoking Vs Non-Smoking, you might be a string supporter of one side, but what matters, in essays is that you can argue and reason for both sides. Hope that helped
If you want to be controversial, write on "Peanut butter: smooth or chunky?"
Or, if you want to be conventional, write on the Iraq war.
Peanut butter idea is good haha, if only that was acceptable. Yeah, war is a bit broad dont you think? I want to do it over something that not everyone and their mom is doing it over, but I cant think of anything.
What about the cuase of media coverage affecting the populatoion, that would be controversial and you could argue whether people need to be told the full truth not just what would benefit the country

I kind of like the idea about the media. But you gotta understand, the media in the u.s. is TOTALLY different. There are nothing but negative things on the news. There is rarely anything peaceful on the news, its always about, "who got shot today", "what country we are bombing now", "who got raped", etc. Its pretty annoying actually.
well thats what you could write about, sorry to keep stressing the point but examiners,in the UK, look for the fact that you can argue both side. The topic doesnt seem to matter as long as your not a zeniphobe(sp)
