my router doesnt seem to be working correctly with this. Is there any software that would implement port forwarding?
I have 2 computers in my network. I want it so that if I remotely connect to a certain port on comp A, it would forward all the data on that port to comp B.
hopefully there is a way to do this without additional hardware:D
Any decent proxy application should do it. But I've often found it tricky working with port forwarding on routers. You delete, re-add, delete, re-add, update the firmware, delete, re-add and then finally it works. Also - you cannot test port forwarding on the wan interface of a router if you're connected to the lan side.
hmmm I'm not too good with networking. Would you explain what you said about lan/wan?
My router doesnt mention if the port forwarding setting is for wan or lan. I have two computers connected to my router and the port forwarding works fine locally, but when I access it through a computer outside of my network it doesnt work. You know anything about why that happens?

if you connect from outside the lan to computer a, the the router should be able to forward the ports to computer b if its on the same lan.

I have a LinkSys router. Post your screen, and we'll take a look at the options.

it works perfectly if I try it locally...
what do you mean that it works perfectly? I've used port forwarding to get data to a pc for a game, that doesn't go to the other machines. Does that mean you can't browse on .2? Or when you ftp from .2 it goes to .3? I'm confused...
