Re: subject, I know how to upload a single pic to a new thread. Is there a way to have multiple pics in a single thread? I will include 1 for clarity.

With this version, I believe that only one image can be attached per post.
Brad!
Can more pics be uploaded to VBF in a different way, and then be linked/referenced from the post?
ie..
http://www.vbforums.com/attachment.p...postid=1810124
Yes use [img] [/img] tag. Quote my post to see how i have done it. You can link as many as you wish this way.Quote:

That is a way to reference already posted pics in a post. I want to reference and upload several new pics for a single post.
You see the difference, Danial?
I think that when we (if we) upgrade to V3.X then we will be able to upload more then one picture/file in one post.
Yes, as other pointed out you cant do that, so the usual practice in VBF is to create a thread in Test Forum and post your pictures in that thread and link to the single post in your main thread. Hope it makes sense..Quote:

Of course, anything posted in the testing forum is subject to disappear at any time. (It is a testing forum that is also used by mods and others to test deleting and other features).Quote:

Is there a reason for needing to link to more than one image?
Brad!
Isn't there always a reason? :DQuote:

You can use what I said earlier (Posting the images in Test Forum) and then use img tag to show all of them in one post.Quote:

Brad, I haven seen any post pruned in Test forum, but I guess if it is filled with junk then it would be logical to delete them.
I wouldnt think and hope you guys will delete all thread randomly :).
Danial
There are no plans to purge the test forum.
However, when we create a new moderator, they may use the test forum to practice editing, moving, splitting, deleting, and other functions that they can do. As such, anything in the test forum is subject to be removed without warning or notice.
You can link to things in there, I'm just giving a warning that there is the chance it could be blown away. chances are that it won't, but if it is then you can't really complain
Brad!
its not like we would complain about *anything*, right?
this group..... never..........Quote:

Just make a thread "DON'T DELETE! Post extra pics thread!" and there everyone posts their extra images. Easy, clean and likely to get deleted.
Great idea!Quote:

Except if the pictures are big and of non-technically related things, then they stand the risk of getting deleted regardless on the grounds of being off topic....
I'll still throw out the disclaimer, that if they are in the test forum, they run the risk.
I did comment in the test forum that if the reason for wanting multiple pictures is related to posting articles on the forum, then this is a legitimate issue and we can address it to come up with a much more viable solution. If this is so chit chat threads then the risk of them being deleted stands (There are some in power who believe that all images should be turned off - doing a bunch of images for chit chat would validate many of their arguments for doing this).
Brad!
OK, so um, lets address it? I want to be able to have multiple pics in some of my posts. I would agree that the total number of bytes for all images in a post should stay less than 1MB. I could work with that.Quote:

As far as chit-chat, maybe you could turn off multi-pic uploading for high volume forums like that one?
If you really need to post multiple images in one post, then you
could always create a master image with multiple sub images in it.

:D
If the images are being used in the context of answer a technical question or within a technical aritcle or FAQ on the site, then I'm not too woried about the size, lthough you shoudl try to make them as small (file size) as possible.Quote:

OK so, then, does the forum site have to change in order to get mulitplie pics in a post? I'm not sure what you're saying the solution is...Quote:

Brad!
Mine was only 62k for three pictures.
:D
Yes - but someone needs to clearly state where they are using the images so we can justify setting up a thread specific for this issue. If I know where the images are being used, then it will be easier for me to set up a location.Quote:

Well, I occasionally make tutorials, and it would be helpful to have pics in it. I plan on making at least 1 technical article on OOD that requires multiple pics.Quote:

Brad!
Also, there are times like the thread I linked to where I needed help and I had to upload 12 posts to get 12 pics up to describe my problem.
I suppose the existing forums could be left alone, and you could have a special place (forum?) where these graphical/text posts/articles/tutorials could reside. Then we could just post links to them...

Here you go.
This forum (link above) is for images for tutorials, FAQs, and other technical resources. It is not for 'chit chat' type images. Cars, bombs, and other off topic images will be removed. If we upgrade this forum to 3.0 or later, then this forum will become obsolete.
Brad!
Stop me if I'm nit picking but how about you add to the "Purpose of this forum" thread somethign that says they must include in the body of the post a link to the thread the images are used in. That way it'll make moderating it easy :).Quote:

Thanks Brad, I sure hope it doesn't get abused.Quote:

Somebody should volunteer to moderate that forum.
you mean 'censor'? for a forum that is going to die? why not?
count me in! :bigyello:
we still will have 1 pic per image, but linked from 1 thread to many support images? also put in a count 1 of 4 to ease the burden
*Raises hand*Quote:
