Yes you can - its best to install Linux on the server as it comes with a choice of FTP, Mail and Web servers - and also the Samba server to share files with Windows. :D
Yes and you don't need Linux at all. If you have Windows 2000 or greater, install IIS and it has a mail server, FTP server etc.
You don't need Linux, but in my opinion it is a better option. It gives you more choice and is more stable in my opinion.Quote:

I run IIS and Windows, and I've never had a single problem with it yet, leave it running for months w/o any problems and it's as stable as a rock, but that's me, I don't intend to turn this into a huge uncontrolled winge fest, just saying that it is just as good, if not better.
He he , yeah that's just my opinion. I prefer a command line interface which is why I prefer a Linux server. Its also free :D - which also scores points in my book.
I have no interest in starting a Linux v's Windows argument. So I'll shut up now before the likes *id and *****sux hijack this thread :D
