VS.NET + VS6 on Same System [Resolved]

VS.NET + VS6 on Same System [Resolved]

Does anyone have VS.NET and VS 6.0 installed on the same system
(dual install)?

I am thinking of doing it. I had asked a long time ago and it was
suggested that I install .NET first and then VS 6. I really wanted
to know if it would dramatically slow my system down?

I am running P4 2.8 Ghz w/HT, 1 Gig dual channel DDR RAM and a
system drive IDE ATA 40 Gb RAID Mirror. and a data drive SATA 120 Gb
RAID Mirror. Its fast with just VS 6, but I had to re-load the entire
system so if I do it I need to install .NET first. I dont want to test
it out and have to reload it agian if its too slow. I dont have that
kind of time.

I have it at home on my laptop, and it's configuration is so lowly compared to yours that I'm ashamed of even mentioning it here.

I don't think you'll be having any problems.

I have both VStudio .NET (.NET Framework 1.1) and VStudio 6 SP6 running on this machine at the same time, no problems :)

P4 1.8 512MB ram VS.Net & VS 6 (.Net 1.1 & compact .Net 1.0 sp2) no problem

P4 1.4 :bigyello: 256MB RAM, both installed (For the time being) no problems.

Microsoft designed it so they would run side-by-side w/o problems, you can even run VB6, VS.NET 2002 & VS.NET 2003 side-by-side w/o problems.

Coooool! I am relieved to hear that it will not slow my system
down very much at all. I will be installing this weekend. Now I can
use my other system for testing and beta versions, etc. I'm
loading 2003 server also on a P4 1.7 w/ 768 Mbs of RD800 RAM. I
was thinking I would have to sacrafice this system to just .net
only.

I have been buying and building three systems for a while
now and the end is near. I will soon have my Server 2003 & SQL
2005 & Exchange 2003 on my 1.7 server and my 2.8 for all my
dev stuff and P3 550 for beta evaluations and testing. All on a
DSL line of 1.5/378 w/3 static IPs. Man I have spent alllot of
dough this last year. Oh well its a tax write off anyways.

Not really because you would have to be a non-profit charitable
organization and I would have to have a gun pointed to my head.

Its a tax write-off because its used for when I work at home.
Everything that is necessary for work could be a write-off like un-
reimbursed gas mileage, DSL to connect to the office, my desk, all
computers, software, books, etc.

I don't think you'll be having any problems.

;)...I have it on my laptop too with DX9b Summer dition installed...:D..it is a 233Mhz 128Mb Ram 4Gb HDD on it...:D....I have no space for porn..:(
