Trouble installing SATA drive

Hi,

I just formatted my computer, and started re-installing all things I needed.

One of the first things I need to do is install my SATA drive, 'cause that contains some partitions with files I need.

Everytime I've installed this thing it wernt perfect, but not this time.

I use the Hardware wizard, it detects nothing, so I select the hardware myself. I select a category that comes close, 'cause there is no SATA category, and use the browse function to select the .INF manually. But everytime I select the INF file on the disk that came with it, it says there is no hardware information on that location..

Anyone encountered this before?

Oh, I'm using Windows XP Pro

is it turned on in BIOS? I haven't heard of anything like this.

Did you hit F6 when you were installing windows when it prompted?

My friend bought a SATA drive and I guessed my way through installing it and didnt have any problems, although i did it on a clean install.

If your computer supports it... i would sugest booting of the SATA drive instead of a IDE... they really make quite a difference.

Try looking at the manufactures website for a quick install guide or something of that matter.

Make sure you have SP1 installed because I have had that problem with my SATA drive with XP Pro too :D.

Better yet, install Windows XP Service Pack 2 :D
