Can someone tell me why ----------- they are always inserted at the end of a message and not where cursor currently is ???

Nope, Programmer ;)

phpBB2 puts them in where the cursor is, and I think vB 3 does too ;). So it will be fixed soon enough when we upgrade.

As Electroman indicated, this is an issue with the version of the forum software that we use.
