open a file from commondialog control

The code I found for this in a book does not work. Can you help me?

Usually you need to post some code so we can help, but this has
been asked several times before. Try a search for commondialog
+ open file or such, you will get several examples.

I suggest you look at GetOpenFileName too, which saves a bit of work.
