Hey all,
Just wanted to know how many books you have programming related. Since all my programming is self taught, I have quite a few. Here is a picture of my library!

Thats quite a bundle. What's your main launguage?
I only have about 5 so far. I suppose i find online resources more useful than books.
I own Barnes & Noble, so my collection is HUGE!
okay, okay...I only steal from Barnes & Noble and my collection is still HUGE!
Cause I haven't been caught yet! :D
I have for a long time wanted to do a similar thread. But I was thinkning about doing it in the Chit Chat part, so maybe more people would see it. OK...so here is my programming book shelf.
I have tried to arrange them as good as I can, but it is hard, becuase most of the books are covering more then one thing. But let me try to explin. They are stored in "3*3 matrix" Where (1,1) is in the upper left corner and (3,3) is in the lower right corner.
http://vbforums.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=1715252
(1,1) - Web (PHP, Java, MySQL, java datastructures)
(2,1) - VB (VB4-5-6,Script, DX)
(3,1) - Shader programming and game articles
(2,1) - OSes (Linux, Win2k, WinMe, and general)
(2,2) - C++ (C++ lang, DX, Terrain, Datastryctures, Dame Design, 2D, 3D, QT)
(2,3) - Div (Network, Hw a PC works, AI, UML, Database theory, ProLog, Physics and Math in Games)
(1,3) - A candle..:D
(2,3) - Marketing strategy (not actualy any programming books)
(3,3) - Math and Physics books.
Under these shelfs I have 16 hard folders with printed out articles on prgramming, mostly game programming.
I am proud of my shelf. I am only 22 years old, and can't afford everything, but it is getting bigger every year. And I love to read all the time. Like on the buss, or on air planes, before I go to sleep, or in front of my TV and so on.
Wow, some nice collections. My main language is VB/VB.NET but I know a bit of C++ and I know PHP.
Java is something I never got into.
My "bookshelf" spans about 3 tables, under my bed and anywhere that you wouldnt expect to find them

Mostly .NET related books on this shelf.

These are some of the older books. Notice we start getting into magazines. First set of magazines are Visual Studio magazines. Second set is MSDN magazines. And the last set is good old 2600 magazines (which reminds me, a new one should be out by now).
The case sitting on top of the books came with my MSDN subscription, but it doesn't hold those CD's. It holds MP3 disks.

This shelf has my Maximum PC magazine collection on it. Then it moves over to the CD cases, which hold all my software. One is strictly devoted to the MSDN subscription disks (which reminds me, get DVD instead of CD if you can). After the CD cases there is just a bunch of office supplies, my job hunting folder, etc.
You have a nice collection too...;)
BTW is that your girl friend on the top left corner there?
Daughter, and son is the middle one.Quote:

What happened to the wife
Is you shelf actually bending under the weight or is it an illusion? :D
No illusion, they are bending. I used to have a bunch more books, but I donated them away. Probably about 20 or so.
What isn't shown is the top shelf, which contains my Star Wars book collection...maybe later I will post that.
I would provide a picture, but the guards in this section of the dungeon don't allow cameras...or books...or food...or kindness...
I would take a picture but its difficult to take a picture when your arms are tied behind your back and they keep me in a padded room.:D
