Win2k/XP don't have msconfig.
That's win98....
To set notepad as your default editor, goto your settings in IE and make it so.
Could be your temp files are messed up if it doesn't work....

Windows XP does have msconfig because i have used it multiple times to get rid of spy and adware
Also on my xp machine notepad does work, but i cant get it to work from the Select a program from list dialog or the start menu. thats annoying. is there a fix to that?
Try clearing the cache and that may fix the Notepad problem.
use sysedit i think is has msconfig :)
2k/XP does have msconfig ;)
