I know this is a stupid question, but can anyone tell me exactly what an SMTP Host is?
It stands for "Sending Mail Transfer Protocol", or something very close to that. :) What it is, is it is the name of the server that your e-mail client logs into to send out your e-mail. Your POP server recieves the mail, and your SMTP server sends the mail. Any specific questions about it, and I can help you ot there as well :)

I have a mail program that I had downloaded and when i want to send a mail it asks me to specify the SMTP Host. In that case do i specify my SMTP Host or the reciever's. Bythe way how do i find out what my SMTP Host is?
Who is your email account with?
In most cases you would specify your SMTP server, as you need a username and password to log on.
you need to specify your SMTP host. The one that comes with your network connection.
If you specify the receipents address's host you will have to change it every time you send an email.
It can work as a nice back up with your SMTP host is down
