I have Adaptec SCSI Ultra160 29160LP with 9.1 GB IBM drive (Lvd), the card findes the drive but not windows (WinXP Pro SP1)...
did a low level format with the SCSI drive utility (from startup) without any problem, but not found by Win...
any idea?

latest drivers installed from www.adaptec.com

You must import new drives such as those before Windows can use them. This is very easy todo.
1. Open Device Manager (Start-> Right-Click My Computer->Manage)
2. Click Disk Management
3. Find your drive or controller, it should appear with a little yellow exclamation mark, right click it and select import or something like that.
4. Follow the wizard and then Windows should see it, then format and partition the drive using the same screen and you're away :D.
I know how to do it, but i only see the scsi controller, not the drive!
So it's not there at all in disk management? I think you're only supposed to see the controller there.
anyway...
my SCSI drive was disconnected from power supply & cable when I connected the Windows won't load...
went to safe mode in it seems to stock when loading MUP.sys or something...
what will I do now?
I can't even load windows with the SCSI HD connected!
Check your boot order or something in the BIOS for something out of the ordinary. That would also explain why it didn't work in Disk Management.
updated latest BIOS for the SCSI drive & still no good!
when the windows load... it stock in Mup.sys
what is this file? what does it do? how can I solve it?
I'd google it, I did a quick google just then and the common cause of that error is either a USB card/device or yep, SCSI. Try it in someone elses computer and see if it reproduces the same error.
did what one site told to do:
1. boot from winxp install disk
2. type "R" for recovery when asked
3. select "C:\windows"
4. Login As Administrator
5. Type "Disable Mup" in the command prompt
that solves the hanges in Mup.sys... HOWEVER, no the windows stucks in some agp video file, which I'm SURE I don't need 2 disable... sooo....
back to square 1! :(
Well I'm not sure then unfortunatly. Try the card in another computer with the same OS and see if the error reproduces itself. If it does, then the card may be faulty or something.
We had a similar problem like this when we upgraded our server to Windows Server 2003, except it was the network card, took it out, all worked fine, put it back in, no go. Eventually we got a new one :).
