bios problem perhaps...need help!!!

Okay, here's what happened... I left my computer running for ~3 hours, and when I came back, I turned on the monitor and moved the mouse to turn off the Screen Saver (standby was not enabled). Nothing came on. My monitor blinked as if it wasn't receiving any info but was still turned on. So I turned the comp off, but when I turned it back on nothing came up..again. This time I noticed the computer didnt beep and the keyboard lights didn't come on but the fan and HD were working. Anyone have any tips? Much thanks.

Check ALL CABLES

try different monitor... Just incase

Clear BIOS

Smack it round a bit (u would be surpised how often this works :D)

checked the cables already...smacked the monitor. i think it's fine though. how do i clear the bios?

Depending on ur motherboard (if u tell me i could look it up)

If u find the CMOS Battery (looks almost like a coin) there should be a jumper really close to it (it may even be marked) just set it for a second and unset it.

Read Ur Motherboards Manual


Note

Before Reseting the bios, make sure u know how to reconfigure it, its usually not hard

i dont think it's the bios :( or at least, clearing it isn't helping.

when all else fails disconnect everything that isnt required to get the computer boot

eg. All IDE devices (and sata), Floppy, Modem, network.
Basicly everything except the video card, ram, processor, mb, powersupply

and try to get it to boot if it does.... then add things one by one untill u find the problem...

if it doesnt work.... There is something wrong with the Motherboard/Processor/Ram/Powersupply

Try pushing everything in firmly (sometimes it requires enough strength that u are afraid that its gonna break...)

well, i just tried disconnecting everything except the necessities and it didnt work so im afraid my motherboard is fried or something. the little light on the case is on permanently whenever i turn the comp on as if its processing or doing something the whole time :\

I've the same problem on my computer once, it almost makes me crazy to find what the trouble is, i'm already check all the things HD, RAM, Cables, CPU, and everything but vainly. i'm almost desperate because there's no other sign to assume which part is in problem, until one of my friend suspicious the Memory module as the problem maker, i'm using 2 of 3 slot memory mudule each 128 MB, there's no repeated beep sound that indicates memory error when i'm booting the computer, but when he put off the memory on the first slot, what a miracle, it works. my screen that blank for many days now act normaly, i still not believe on that time, so i put the memory back to it's place, the problem start again. and it's solved as i put off the memory again. So what a surprise, something i couldn't expect before. hope it will help you, just give it a try !! Good luck.

In my case i didn't move the memory from slot 1 to slot 3, but i putt off the memory in slot 1, because the problem is on the memory module it's leak. So at that time i'm only using 1 memory module, please check all the memory module by using them one by one per boot, to indicates which memory is broke, and one more thing do you have any friend that would mind to check your memory processor, VGA runs or not in your friend 's computer, because if this 3 things shown the same behave than your pheriperal is leak off, but if it runs well, then the first suspicious is only to your motherboard. Good luck.

Just try with the simple check things one by one, once again i suggest you to check it with another computer, it's still the best problem detecting ways yet i ever know.
