Can anyone tell me how much harder Java is to learn than Visual Basic.NET?
I know VB.NET and want to learn Java but not sure how hard it is.

It's a different syntax and a different framework.
If you had asked for a comparison to C#, I'd have said it's exactly equal. With VB.Net, I don't know. VB-based languages are said to be easier to learn, but I don't like their syntax.
If you're familiar with object-oriented programming and typesafe languages then you shouldn't have any trouble.

As corned be said the syntax does not look the same at all. It isn't that much harder to learn. But many VB users are often getting angry becuase it takes more code to do the same as you can do in some small drag and drops in VB.
So in the end. If you have done a LOT of VB, you might get a bit confused, but when you are getting pass that, you will do fine. Just don't give up to easy. When you first know Java, it is so much simpler to do C# and C++ and so on later....
Id say if you are comming from .Net, learning Java should not be too painful. Net is now a true OO language with the only new feature added being inheritance. Polymorphism, encapsulation and abstraction have been around since VB4.
