using hyperterminal or a similar program with VB

Hello, I have a big problem. :(
To access a certain device via a modem connection, I am using the Windows integrated program "hyperterminal"
I am using the features :
making a call
using the "ymodem"
loggin into the device
sending and receiveing data using the command lines of hyperterminal

Now I want to do this with VB, but I have no idea how to do so. I ve been searching the internet for days.
I did not find any information concerning any VB code (nor any other language)
Please guys, can anybody help me.
(Please excuse my bad english)

you need to get code that reads and writes data to the COM ports.
